FinancialDeepDive explains the forces moving the global economy — oil and energy, inflation, interest rates, world events and artificial intelligence — in plain English.

How our articles are made

We are open about this: our articles are researched and drafted with AI. We use AI because it lets a small, independent publication cover fast-moving economic stories in depth. We also know AI can be confidently wrong, so we build the process around that.

  • Primary sources first. Figures and forecasts come from the organisations that publish them — the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the International Energy Agency (IEA), OPEC, the IMF, central banks and national statistics offices — and we link to them in the article.
  • Dates on everything. Every article shows when it was published or last updated. Economic data goes stale quickly, so check the date and the linked source before relying on a number.
  • No predictions dressed up as facts. When we discuss forecasts, we say whose forecast it is and what it assumes.
  • Corrections. If you find an error, tell us. We fix mistakes and update the article date.

What we are not
