Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information FinancialDeepDive (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit financialdeepdive.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
FinancialDeepDive is a static website. It has no user accounts, no login, no comments and no newsletter sign-up, so we hold very little information about visitors.
1. Information you give us
If you use our contact form or email us, we receive what you send: usually your name, email address and message. We use it only to reply to you. We do not add you to any mailing list.
2. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, technical information is collected when you visit, by us and by the services listed below:
- IP address and approximate location (country or city level)
- browser, device type and operating system
- pages viewed, time on page and the site that referred you
- date and time of the visit
We use this in aggregate to understand which articles are useful and to keep the site running and secure. We do not try to identify individual visitors, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive information such as financial account numbers or government IDs.
3. Services that process data for us
| Service | What it does | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts and delivers the website and images | Standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and performance |
| Google Analytics 4 | Measures how the site is used | Usage data and cookies, analysed in aggregate |
| Google AdSense | Shows advertising | Cookies and device identifiers, which may be used for personalised ads |
| Google Fonts | Serves the site’s typefaces | Your IP address when the fonts load |
| Tally | Runs the contact form | The details you type into the form |
| cdnjs / jsDelivr | Deliver the code that draws interactive charts | Your IP address when a chart loads |
Each service handles data under its own privacy policy.
4. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. On this site they are set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense, to measure traffic and to serve and measure ads. A small setting in your browser’s local storage also remembers whether you chose light or dark mode; it never leaves your device.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
Where the law requires consent (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), advertising cookies are only used after you agree through the consent message shown by Google.
5. Advertising
Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of the DoubleClick cookie lets it serve ads across the web.
- How Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Turn off personalised ads: myadcenter.google.com
- Opt out of other networks: aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu
6. Analytics
Google Analytics tells us things like which articles are read most and where readers come from. We look at this in aggregate only. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
7. How we use information
- to reply to messages and corrections
- to understand which content is useful and improve it
- to keep the site secure and working
- to show advertising that funds the site
- to meet legal obligations
We do not sell or rent personal information.
8. How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message. Analytics data is kept for the period set in our Google Analytics account (no longer than 14 months). Server and advertising data is kept according to Cloudflare’s and Google’s own policies.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU/UK GDPR and California’s CCPA/CPRA, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the Google advertising described above.
To make a request, email contact@financialdeepdive.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Security
The whole site is served over HTTPS and we keep the information we hold to a minimum. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Links to other websites
Articles link to sources and other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
12. Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page.
14. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data: contact@financialdeepdive.com or our contact page.
